January 2007 Board Meeting Notes
A meeting of the Friends of Downs Park, Inc. Board of Directors was held at it's regularly scheduled time of 7:30 PM on Wednesday, January 17th (3rd Wednesday of the month.) There were approximately 13 persons in attendance. Here are a few brief notes on the meeting:
| Ranger Nolley Fisher gave an overview of the Maple Syrup program and the role of the volunteers in planning, gathering sap, constructing the ‘sugar shack’, and boiling the sap as a demonstration program for the public. | |
| Ranger Nolley Fisher presented awards to Maple Syrup Volunteers | |
| We had a photo op of the presentation (look elsewhere on the website for a photo.) | |
| We discussed the April 21 Craft Fair | |
| We briefly touched on the 25th Anniversary Celebration scheduled for July 15th. We will dedicate an upcoming meeting to brainstorming and discussing the program for the event. | |
| It was mentioned that the Chesapeake Bay Foundation has a speaker’s bureau and might be a good program addition for an upcoming meeting. | |
| Discussion was held on funding supplies and materials for the Maple Syrup program and $200 was approved. | |
| Rick discussed some of the ‘happenings’ at the park including the two eagle projects recently completed, the trail marker system and bulletin boards at all the pavilions. | |
| We were reminded that the February meeting (Wed. Feb 21) would feature the volunteers who take care of our birds and the Adopt-an-Owl program. An owl prowl (nighttime bird walk looking and listening for owls) will be held immediately after the meeting. | |
| The meeting adjourned at about 8:30 pm |
